Stories of romantic love in the midst of heartbreak and young love are gaining her acclaim within the 21st century. Swift began to show an keen interest in the world of music at a young age. Swift's career grew rapidly beyond the roles of children's entertainers, to her first public appearance before a crowd of thousands. Swift was just 11 when she sang The Star-Spangled Banner at a Philadelphia 76ers basketball game. The following year she started writing her own songs and took up guitar. Swift created original music that was inspired by country performers such as Shania Twain (now known as the Chicks), and Dixie Chicks. Her material is a reflection of her experiences as an adolescent. As a teenager, Swift's parents sold their property in Pennsylvania for a move in Hendersonville Tennessee so she could concentrate more time interacting with country artists located in the nearby city of Nashville.
